This is Pooh, an amputee cat who just got bionic ‘new legs’.
Pooh the kitty lived in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he was found by one kind woman. No one knew exactly what happened to the fur ball but his back legs were in a bad condition and as soon as they rushed him to the vet, they knew an amputation was in order for the kitten but that could also mean the cutie would have to be euthanized later on if the amputation didn’t work properly.
That’s when Dr. Vladislav Zlatinov came in to examine Pooh. He’d heard of prosthetic legs for cats before but never had quite tried it himself. “I had the vague idea that this is done, but it sounded impossible for our practice,” Zlatinov claimed. Regardless, he tried the procedure and it turned out to be a complete success!
Pooh can move freely on flat surfaces — walking, running, even making small jumps… What’s important is that he doesn’t seem to be in pain.” The kitten has found a second chance at life and will be awaiting adoption as soon as he recovers.
“We’re very proud,” Zlatinov told Reuters. “It was quite a success … It gives hope to other patients.” As for Pooh, the cat is currently at a rescue shelter called Let’s Adopt Bulgaria and will be ready for adoption soon.
