Scout, his Golden Retriever, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma – an aggressive form of cancer, in the summer of 2019. Vets discovered a bleeding tumor on Scout’s heart and the otherwise healthy, seven-year-old dog was given just one month to live.
Weathertech founder and CEO, David MacNeil, refused to give up on his best friend. MacNeil brought Scout to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Surprisingly, they were optimistic. The veterinarians there put together an aggressive treatment plan to shrink Scout’s tumor and achieved incredible results. In only a month after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, the tumor shrank by 78%. Then in no time it shrank by 90%. And now, it’s all but gone. To put in perspective how big of a feat that is, take into account that hemangiosarcoma has a survival rate of just 1%.

This research will help advance cancer treatments for humans as well, so there’s the potential to save millions of lives of all species.” – said Macneil
Funds raised by the commercial will go towards supporting the University by helping purchase cutting edge medical equipment and fund research.
